Accounting
for Founders

Your books aren't clean yet. That's exactly where we start. You don't need a finance department, you need your transactions recorded correctly, your books closed every month, and someone who'd actually notice if a number looked wrong before it becomes your problem at tax time or in a fundraising conversation.

The Problem

Cheap Bookkeeping Is Easy to Find.
Someone Who'd Notice If It Was Wrong Isn't.

01

Nobody Senior Is Actually Looking

Software-driven bookkeeping tools are fast and cheap at categorizing transactions. What they don't do is notice when something looks off, a duplicate charge, a miscategorized expense, a number that breaks last month's pattern, before it hits your financial statements.

02

It Only Surfaces When It's Expensive

Books that are a little behind feel harmless in the moment. Then a CPA asks for clean Q2 data in Q4, or an investor asks a question your P&L can't answer, and the cost of catching up shows up all at once.

03

The Founder Ends Up Doing It Anyway

Somewhere between too early for a finance team and too busy to do it properly, the books become the thing that gets done last, if at all. That's not a bookkeeping problem, it's a bandwidth problem wearing a bookkeeping costume.

Clean books aren't the finish line. They're the floor everything else, taxes, fundraising, FP&A eventually, stands on.

The Transformation

From Catching Up to Never Falling Behind

Before Finsight
"I'll clean it up before tax season"
Three spreadsheets, none of them current
Finding out you're behind when someone else asks for the data
A bookkeeper you found on a marketplace and never spoke to again
No one would notice if a number was wrong
After Finsight
Books closed on a fixed schedule, every month, no exceptions
One source of truth you could hand to an investor tomorrow
A dedicated Key Account Manager who owns the relationship
Someone reviewing the numbers, not just recording them
Clean data ready the moment FP&A, tax, or a raise needs it

The goal isn't just clean books. It's books clean enough that nothing about your finances is a mystery when it matters.

Scope Clarity

Bookkeeping Done Right, Nothing Bolted On

This Is
Monthly bookkeeping, reconciliation, and clean financial statements
A fixed monthly close schedule you can set your calendar to
One dedicated Key Account Manager as your point of contact
Senior oversight on every close, not just data entry
A foundation that's ready the moment you need FP&A or fundraising support
This Is Not
Tax filing or tax preparation, we work alongside your CPA or tax preparer, that stays a separate relationship
Forecasting, budgeting, or FP&A, see Founder FP&A Framework if your books are handled elsewhere and you want that layer
CFO-level strategy or board involvement
A one-off cleanup with no ongoing relationship behind it

📊

AR/AP Aging Schedules

Clear visibility into who owes you and who you owe, and how overdue either one is.

Dedicated Key Account Manager

One point of contact who owns your books and would notice if a number looked wrong, not a rotating queue.

Common Questions

Questions Founders Ask About This Engagement

No. This covers bookkeeping and financial statements only, not tax filing or tax preparation. We can work alongside your CPA or tax preparer, or point you to one, but that stays a separate relationship.

Software tools are fine at the mechanical work, categorizing transactions, running reconciliations. What they don't do is notice when something looks off before it hits your financial statements. You're paying for a person who would, not just a tool that records.

Whatever you're already using, QuickBooks, Xero, or similar. If nothing is set up yet, we can help you get started.

Yes. This is designed as a starting point. Founder FP&A Framework adds forward-looking forecasting once your books are handled. Fractional Finance Team bundles accounting and FP&A together under one relationship if you'd rather have both from the start.

Access to your accounting software, or your bank and card statements if you don't have one set up. If your books are behind, we'll scope a catch-up phase first.

Onboarding typically takes 2 to 3 weeks, then you're on a fixed monthly cadence.
